Cosmetic Dentistry
All dentists are artists to a degree. We know that when you have a healthy beautiful smile you have a healthy attitude about yourself. You don’t have to live with a smile that you don’t like or that is less than perfect. There are many advances in cosmetic dentistry so that you can have a perfect smile in no time. Cosmetic dentistry is a “catch all” term to mean that we do all procedures as nicely as we can. You will have a youthful natural smile. When you look your best, you are more confident. One of the ways we make your teeth pretty is by using only tooth colored or composite fillings. Fifteen years ago, we stopped doing metal fillings. We have better materials that are safer and kinder to the teeth. These materials look better too. Composite fillings are bonded to the tooth, they don’t leak and they don’t turn the tooth grey. The metal fillings tend to be rigid and they can bend, dent and deform over time so they may begin to crack the tooth around the filling. Some are in such bad shape they resemble crumpled up aluminum foil. All types of porcelain crowns can be used to fix and make teeth stronger when they have large, older metal fillings. They are almost like restoring a tooth to the way it was when it was new. Crowns are bonded to the teeth to make them whole again. When you come in for an exam, we will use our intraoral camera to show you what we see in your mouth. You will be able to see the cracking and leaking of old metal fillings. We will ask you what you need help with and then make recommendations. We can use cosmetic dentistry to help with crowding, spacing, dark lines, discoloration and more.
