Dentures and partials replace missing teeth. It is important to replace missing teeth to help maintain a healthy smile and good chewing function. If there are missing teeth or none at all, a denture or partial will keep your face from collapsing and help you eat. When teeth are missing the remaining teeth like to have something to lean on or bite against and will start to drift. This drifting can make your bite collapse. If you are not able to do an implant or a fixed bridge, we can make a nice fitting removable partial denture or full denture.
A partial denture may be needed if you are missing multiple teeth. A partial denture can:
Help improve speech
Help chew food properly
Support lips and cheeks
Prevent face from sagging
Partial dentures are made by attaching the replacement teeth to gum colored spaces that attach to a metal framework. The partial can attach to remaining teeth with a metal clasp or if they will attach to crowns we can use a precision clasp to attach the partial. The precision clasp is nice because it snaps into the crown and makes the partial denture fit even better. Each case is different so we will access each person and recommend the best solution for you.
If all of the teeth are missing it is sometimes a good idea to have some support. Lower dentures tend to move so if at all possible you will want to have a minimum of two implants to help hold the lower denture in place.
We want to help you keep as many teeth as possible but if you have lost teeth we can help you by making a great fitting removable partial or full denture. Eating and speaking should be comfortable. Our goal is to help you stay healthy.
